Every person has a story

We help it be seen and heard

Care Insight Films for Residential Settings — helping busy care teams understand the person behind the paperwork

Legacy Films for families and individuals — preserving a person’s life story for generations to come

We are experienced broadcast documentary makers, creating two kinds of film with older people.

  • 3-4 minute films for care settings — Care Insight Films — which sit within our wider Care Insight Programme and are used to support person-centred care.

  • Legacy Films - personal documentaries for individuals and families — to mark a celebration, preserve a life story, or simply because the time feels right.

We work with warmth, care and respect — creating an experience that feels natural, comfortable and deeply rewarding.

Care Insight Programme

Short, professionally produced films that help your team understand the person behind the paperwork.

Each film sits within our wider Care Insight Programme, with practical support for use in day-to-day care.

Clear. Accessible. Purposeful.

“Wherever possible, we want the residents to say it in their own words, by themselves, with their own expressions and storytelling.

It says a lot, compared to reading a document. The films help enrich the care plan”

“It makes me emotional watching it and I’m touched to think it is something my children and one day possibly their children might watch. A timeless gift.”

Who we are

Two Friends Films is Suzannah Wander and Esther McWatters. Between us, we have over four decades of experience making high end documentaries spanning the South Bank Show, ITV specials, BBC Current Affairs, BBC Specialist Factual, CNN and Sky.

We started this company because we believe that documentary filmmaking — the craft of sitting with someone and helping them tell their story — belongs in care and for all older people. As experienced documentary filmmakers, we are trained to create conversations that feel natural and relaxed — more like time spent with a trusted friend than a formal interview.

Each film is handled with clear consent, careful editing and secure delivery. Because our films often contain deeply personal material — and in care settings may involve special category data — we have not published identifiable client films on this website. Protecting privacy, dignity and trust is central to how we work. We have used a few excerpts from finished films with permission from our contributors.

We work with a limited number of clients at a time to ensure high quality and attention.

We are proud to partner with this care setting, creating Care Story Films and Legacy Films for their residents.
